The Meet And Greet Meme For Characters

The Meet and Greet Meme
For Characters

This is the IC version of the The Role Call Meme

[The Rules]

1. Find the thread for the canons/fandoms of your character. If you don't see one, make one!

2. Post with all of your character accounts. Yes, all of them. Throwing in your entire musebox is totally fine in this meme. (Please write down the name and canon/fandom of the character in the subject line, and also if they're canon, AU, crossover or OC, etc.)

3. AU characters are totally OK. Crossover/fusion characters may post at all the fandoms/canons their crossover/fusion is derived from. Fandom OCs may post at their fandom/canon's thread. Original Story/Universe OCs will have their own thread.

4. Tag around all over the place - Canonmates, non-canonmates, everything is OK!

"No superpowers, no training," Sharon mused. She tapped her finger against her glass.

"Then I suggest you make yourself impossible to kill. He's afraid you know something, right?" She shrugged. "You can give what you have on him to someone who will check in with you periodically, and if you miss the checkpoint, they'll release everything. You can tell him that you won't release the stuff as long as he leaves you alone."

That's good

Karen had wished that were the case. If it had been back in the Union Allied days, then maybe---yeah. Now? Now what she had done was take away his friend, his right hand man, and also went to see his mother. She was dead, there was nothing she could do, say, or fix to make this any better.

With a sigh, and a fake smile for Sharon's effort., she nodded her head. "Sounds like a plan," she said lamely.

Sharon frowned at her. "And that's a lie," she said quietly, studying Karen's face more closely.

"I think it's time you tell me more about what the hell happened to you, Karen."

Karen sighed, and looked down, finishing her drink before she spoke, "I can't tell you, should I tell you, I put you in as much danger as I am already in. I took something from Fisk, and I also did something that he would kill me for doing. He killed Ben Urich because he was with me when we did it," she said softly, for only Sharon to hear.

Sharon chuckled and hung her head. She took a couple seconds to get herself under control as she continued laughing quietly to herself. “Karen. I can protect myself.”

She sobered at the mention of Ben Ulrich. She was familiar with the name, of course, but she made a note to look it up later in the context of Karen Page. “I’m no reporter. I’m a former SHIELD agent who works for the CIA and has connections to the Avengers. He’s not going to get rid of me as easily. Now tell me what happened.”

"That's not the point, Sharon. I know you can, but I have to know that I can protect the people around me, and to show that I care about their safety in some way," she tried not to sound too tired, and angry, but some of it slipped through.

Karen stared her down for a few moments before she polished off her scotch, and ordered another one. Once she had it, and the bartender was gone, she looked up with a sigh. "I shot his right hand man, he kidnapped me from my home, but I got the upper hand on him, and I killed him. The reason he kidnapped me was because I found out Fisk's mother was not dead, but in a senior home upstate. I tricked Ben into going with me, and then I tricked him into going to talk to her. We got a lot of information on Fisk, though none of it was admissible as far as getting him busted," she then looked down into her drink, and slammed it back.

"Then he found out about Ben, and Ben lied about who was there with him, thus saving my life. Yet, my trickery is what got him killed in the first place," feeling disgusted with herself, yet again, she waved the bartender over to pour her another drink.

Holy shit.

Sharon stalled after Karen finished, taking a slow sip of her beer.

Holy shit. Yeah, Karen was screwed. Karen hadn't just messed with the man and the man's right hand, she'd messed with Fisk's mother. Fisk was not the sort of person who wanted people to know anything without his express permission.

"Okay," she said after a couple minutes. "Two things. First, you're going to tell me what you can about the mother. Second, I'm going to train you."

There went her free time for the foreseeable future.

Karen just watched her for a few moments, reading the surprise on her face when she was done with her story.

When she finally spoke, Karen was chewing on the inside of her cheek pretty hard. "What do you mean, to know about his mother? What does she have to do with this?" Her voice sounded a bit agitated, but only because she was freaking out, and a bit worried, and scared.

"Wait, you said train me? In what? Like, to protect myself? I know how to shoot a gun, I told you that when I met you," she said softly, taking the rest of her drink, and downing it.
agentxthirteen: (03: did he just fucking sass me)

"Because his mother is his weak spot," Sharon pointed out. "And so long as he thinks you know about her, he'll come after you." She shrugged. "Some guys are weird about their mothers. But to his way of thinking, you've made it personal. He spent a lot of time crafting a mask for people, and you go and find his mom, blowing up this carefully-orchestrated lie. So long as he thinks you're the only one who knows, you're in trouble. I can handle that, though. Make you seem like a small fish not worth killing. Or at least keep him too distracted to follow-through with the kill." She took a swig of her beer. "The woman may not have anything to do with this but being someone's mother. But she's a monster's mother, which means she's a piece on the board."

She looked sideways at Karen. The woman couldn't be serious. "Yeah, you know how to use a gun. But guns can be taken away. Guns can be lost. Guns aren't going to help you when you don't have them with you. So yeah. Training. And you're going to hate me, but you're going to do it anyway." She grinned. "Because otherwise, he kills you. And if he kills you, it means he wins. And I don't think you want that."

Karen sighed heavily, and put her glass down to scrub at her face with both hands, moving then to push through her hair. She looks Sharon over, just debating all of this, then she clears her throat before she speaks.

"Fine, his mother told me that when Wilson was 12, he bludgeoned his father to death for beating on his mother. She then helped Wilson cut up the body, and dispense of it. She kept up the lie about his father disappearing, most likely for owing Rigoletto some money," she offers. Knowing it is a lot of information, and really puts into scope the monster that Wilson Fisk is today.

"As far as training goes, I had plans to look for someone to teach me how to protect myself, so this just cuts down on all the phone work I could have been doing," she says honestly.

"So, will this information help? I want to keep Wilson in check, no matter what the cost. I don't want anyone else getting hurt, or getting dragged into this because of me," she shivers a bit, moving to hug herself. Trying her best to not start crying.
agentxthirteen: (01: ouch that hurts)

[personal profile] agentxthirteen 2015-09-17 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
They'd cut up the body? And Wilson had only been twelve at the time? Jesus. No wonder the guy was messed up.

"I usually go to the gym every day about five. If you're up to it, I can pick you up around four-thirty. I have training in losing tails, in case one gets assigned to you." She paused. The odds weren't good that Wilson would forget Karen's existence. If he was distracted, that might keep him busy, but it would only delay his revenge, not stop it. She'd have to work out something. God knew she had plenty of spare time at the CIA.

"I don't suppose his mom told you where they disposed of the body parts, did she?"

Glancing at Karen, she set her glass on the counter and leaned in. "Never forget that other people make their own choices. You might do everything you can to prevent bad things happening, but they'll still happen. That doesn't mean it's your fault, and it doesn't mean you should blame yourself. You can only do all you can. And what you can do is limited. Training will help. Preparation will help. Giving me everything I need to help you will help. I'm going to need to know how you found his mom. And you're going to let me take you home to make sure you get there okay. I'll check your security, too."
