The OOC RP Discussion Meme

The OOC RP Discussion Meme

[How To]

1. Discuss anything to do with RP-ing - Plots you want to try out, characters, characterization, head canon/fan theories, game ideas, meme ideas, fic and fanart ideas, AU and crossover ideas, Verse/PSL ideas, etc, etc. Game and comm promotions are fine, too.

2. Comments can be anon or non-anon, it's up to you.

3. Please do not bash, flame or name drop any mun or game in a negative fashion. No wanking, please!

4. Have fun!

can we make it a rule to require people to post prompts with their characters when they post a top level comment? Maybe then we wouldn't have an issue with people dumping their muses and running.

Making it a rule wouldn't do much good. I think prompts are a bit much...maybe just a brief character overview, like their initial reaction and thought process?

Say, in the Lights Out meme...

"Jerry, being a space marine, is quite used to the dark, so this doesn't bother him at all. Now to wander until something attacks him so he can be sure he's on the right track to salvation!"

Even that little bit of an intro sets up the thread nicely. I can at least tell what kind of attitude the player/character is taking to the meme and can reply accordingly!

I have to admit, there are times when I can't post a prompt to save my life... Tonight would be a good one, so that's when I will top comment. And, it would be a bit of a waste to do all that work for it just to go unanswered.

and I feel the same whenever I set up a scene for a blank reply to never get a comment back. Shit goes both ways.

A sentence or two can't be too much of a trouble. Sometimes an ooc note to say which prompts they like is good. This seems to happen mostly on smut memes.

If somebody is interested enough to post a top level comment, they probably have some idea of why it's a good one for their particular muse.

Then of course some people are just musedumping.

Having said that, I don't think it should be a rule to post a starter.

I don't think making it a rule for all memes would work at all.

Creating memes where top level posters have to make a prompt is fine, but it wouldn't work for all memes.
