The OOC RP Discussion Meme
[How To]
1. Discuss anything to do with RP-ing - Plots you want to try out, characters, characterization, head canon/fan theories, game ideas, meme ideas, fic and fanart ideas, AU and crossover ideas, Verse/PSL ideas, etc, etc. Game and comm promotions are fine, too.
2. Comments can be anon or non-anon, it's up to you.
3. Please do not bash, flame or name drop any mun or game in a negative fashion. No wanking, please!
4. Have fun!

Was it because of a lack of fandom muses to interact with or because you felt you had already played out every scenario in her/his/its life?
If it's the first, then you just have to be brave and tag muses from other fandoms or OCs. If it's the second, well, I believe that as long as the muse isn't dead, there are things to play out :). Just like in RL. You just keep on living and doing your thing.
What are the reasons you want to revive them? If it's just because you have the journal and you feel you "should" play them... not a good reason since you probably can't force it for very long.
But I think that if you're planning to revive them, it means you have at least some ideas of what you'd like to do.
What about playing them at a slightly younger age (I don't mean creating a new journal for that purpose.)? It is slightly more restricting since you'd need to take account on what happened in their life later (which you already know), but in a way that's part of the fun. You can create more history for them. Though I guess this works best with OCs.
