[The Rules]
1. Find the thread for the canons/fandoms of your character. If you don't see one, make one!
2. Post with all of your character accounts. Yes, all of them. Throwing in your entire musebox is totally fine in this meme. (Please write down the name and canon/fandom of the character in the subject line, and also if they're canon, AU, crossover or OC, etc.)
3. AU characters are totally OK. Crossover/fusion characters may post at all the fandoms/canons their crossover/fusion is derived from. Fandom OCs may post at their fandom/canon's thread. Original Story/Universe OCs will have their own thread.
4. Tag around all over the place - Canonmates, non-canonmates, everything is OK!

Playing hostess and putting people at ease is a natural place for her.
So sorry for the late reply, life has been crazy.
"No, I haven't. I just got here," she said honestly. "What type of wines do they have?" Karen was no expert on wines, so she would defer to Vanessa for some help.
Very! I just heaved a giant completed project out the door.
Hearing the hesitation, however so slight, Vanassa whispered conspiratorially, "Don't you hate it when all you hear is the winery's name and get a snooty raised eyebrow, as if to say if you don't know what they're talking about then you're not worth a glass?" She knew how to fit herself to the audience, a social chameleon. "Tell me, do you like sweet like dessert or dry that leaves a snap of a tart granny smith apple on your tongue?"
Good for you! <3
When Vanessa brought up what types of wine Karen liked, she had to think about it for a little bit. "Something sweet, something that is sweet, but not 'going to rot your teeth out' sweet," she answered in that same conspiratorial manner.

Guiding the young woman without seeming to do so, they stopped in front of the wine bar. Vanessa ordered two Rieslings from a foreign vinter, and signed off on her tab. Perfectly chilled golden liquid was poured into spotless glasses. As if to show Karen how to do it, Vanessa gave the wine a swirl then sniffed it, breathing deeply. "Oh that's a good one," flirting with the staff through lowered lashes. "Give it a try, Karen. If this isn't it, we'll try another."

Karen watched Vanessa intently, how she flirted, what she did, this woman was very engaging. Taking the glass that was offered to her, Karen leaned over, and attempted to sniff it, but gave up when she realized she had no idea what she was doing, so she let out a laugh. Clearing her throat, she nodded, "okay, here goes nothing," she said in a bright voice, then she took a slow sip of it. Savoring the wine on her tongue for a moment or two, when she swallowed, she looked over to Vanessa in a bit of shock. "It's perfect, thank you," she put her hand on Vanessa's arm.

"Now," looking out over the crowd as they turned away from the bar, "Who would you like be be introduced to? Any handsome or wealthy people catch your eye? You are Karen Page after all, a mysterious blond who has charmed their favorite purveyor of the arts. For weeks I will be asked who you are. What shall I tell them?" Teasing lightly, "An heiress? A sculptor? A breeder of racehorses?"

Her next question blows her mind, it was like opening Pandora's box, and Karen wasn't sure if she wanted to go there? "Well, there is one guy, but I don't think he knows I exist that way. Here? Gee, I don't know. I mean, it is really hard to choose," she said shyly.

Karen was a simple creature, some beer, or some scotch, a good movie, or a good book, maybe some friends, a little daydreaming about a certain someone, working hard, and doing it all again. That was her life, so looking at the people that had money, and time, and hearing how they got by. It kind of blew her mind a little.
"I think you've just blown my mind a little," she said honestly.

Amended, "Although there are notable exceptions and they don't need to be here to have influence."

"I guess money is not all that it is cracked up to be," she said finally. "How do you know so much about all of these people? I mean, do they confide in you? Or do you hear things? I mean, how do they do it, and how do you know it? It all seems like a giant ball of string that just got jumbled together, and can never get unjumbled," she said with a sigh.

"Now," clearing her throat, "I did not mean to make you depressed, but you should know, if you play, do it because it is fun for you, not because you hope to find anyone to keep. Should you find that one loyal person, keep them because they are a rarity."

"You see more, know more than I do. I just look around and see a bunch of self important people who want to snub their nose at you, or they want to step on your while they try to get to the next, great step," she said in an unsure, unsteady tone of voice. Shaking her head, she sighed and took a drink from her wine. "Though your plan sounds nice, reading a book, sitting at home, just being near on another," she said with a sigh.
"I am not sure, I don't think this is my kind of scene. I mean, I would love some money. I would. But, not at this expense. It doesn't seem worth it, it seems like such a hollow life. I want a life that means something, that's done something wonderful," she offers candidly.
