Maybe its just my style (or the game environment I've been in for the past five+ years) but I just don't get wayswithwords. The lack of a closed setting really throws me off. Some posts are third person rp, some are just longer sixwordstories entries--like, who are those directed at? Do the characters have blogs? Chat rooms, forums, what?

I know, I know, I'm probably overthinking things. I get that. But its like this weird barrier in my brain that goes NONE OF THIS MAKES SENSE. WHERE IS EVERYONE AT?

I'd definitely love the anon kink partner one again.

All you need to know is that Waywithwords has become infested by the same group of people from smuttysws that constantly post one-liners. It's like [action spam] but literally without the action. And rarely do they ever respond to anyone outside their 'clique'.

Oh my god Anon, were you in my brain just now? I've never heard of this comm before and wanted to see what an anons above were raving about. A good DR that nobody's using? "Discovering the comm made my night"? I just clicked over all excited for a new place to play... And it's SWS with a longer word count. It's all live action (with the exception of a couple of comic characters), few posts, few tags, nothing interesting.

I'm a little let down.

The headcanon meme was awesome.

It wouldn't be 'taken over' by any clique if people would post to it more. There are over 400 members and yet it's nowhere near as used as it could be. As for it being all LA, that's not the fault of anyone actually posting. That's because manga/anime/vg players have decided not to bother, which leaves anyone wanting to play with them with little to no option.

I'd love to tag people, but I'm finding that most of the tags available are from characters that my few wouldn't have a reason to interact with. The open dr verse setting is fine with me, but I can't think of any reasons for my characters to tag any of the ones that are up lately. I'm also wanting to avoid the Marvel cast since I don't play from that genre and would like to see the dr branch out a bit more and not just become another ssws.

To do that, people really need to make some posts. Who cares if it doesn't get tagged right away? Don't delete it if it's only been a day and don't be afraid to throw LA or anime characters out there. Provide the options you'd like to see.

Exactly what it sounds like. Your character's just been kicked in the crotch, and those who respond are the guilty party.

Yes, it hurts like hell for a female to get kicked in the crotch as well, but if you prefer, they can be punched in the boob instead.

... the infested part is fault of everyone else that doesn't use it. And, considering how bad some of them are, they can stay in their clique for all I care.

Because as a prospective player, it's not my job to make someone else's community into a place I want to play. Do all those 400 members have different muns, or is it just 5-10 people dumping their entire character rosters to artificially inflate the community's member count? I'm reasonably active around the RP community and this is the first I've heard of wayswithwords. If it's legitimately that big of a community, is it the Fight Club of DWRP? "The first rule of WWW is don't talk about WWW"?

Looking at the active community there doesn't make me want to become part of that community. And as a former TLH regular who stopped posting there when the active community turned into a pile of garbage, I'm not really sure what can be done to rectify the issue. How do you clean up a metaphorical roach motel?

I always liked bringing that around again. Fun to read about peoples interpretations.

Then tag the people that they ignore. Put a post up and wait. And, there's nothing you can do with the people that are there. It's an open dressing room for fucks sake.

Unfortunately, this isn't a game where the mods have to try to entice people to come play in. It's a dr with a more open theme than sws or ssws, but it's essentially the same thing. It's a place where multiple verses or aus can happen, but from what I've seen, it seems to stick to the same group of people that post in sws/ssws and they seem to be making it about that verse they've created.

That's fine for them, but I would think perhaps if people were to toss in obscure characters or non-LA characters, it would do more to drawing in the type of characters they want to play with than just deciding it's a loss and leaving another dr comm to be overrun by the current group.

What about a meme where you don't post your canon? Just post basic details like age, occupation and the like. Maybe you're on vacation and one of the activities is pick a "random" profile and go meet your fellow vacationers.

Light quasi jamjar style : Everybody is sucked into a big lavish spa and hotel, which can function as a launchpad for other adventures.
