[The Rules]

1. Find the thread for the canons/fandoms of your character. If you don't see one, make one!

2. Post with all of your character accounts. Yes, all of them. Throwing in your entire musebox is totally fine in this meme. (Please write down the name and canon/fandom of the character in the subject line, and also if they're canon, AU, crossover or OC, etc.)

3. AU characters are totally OK. Crossover/fusion characters may post at all the fandoms/canons their crossover/fusion is derived from. Fandom OCs may post at their fandom/canon's thread. Original Story/Universe OCs will have their own thread.

[He immediately rubs the back of his neck once more with his expression sheepish.]

[ Honestly, Anders hasn't got the faintest idea what he's doing here, was just about to duck back out as inconspicuously as he arrived - but Hawke looks almost as dreadfully out of place as he feels. It would've been too cruel just to let him flounder. Even if it means enduring the party a little longer.

At least Hawke's fit of nerves gets a bit of a smile out of him - the sympathetic kind. ]

I've seen you make worse, I'm certain.

[At least he wasn't alone. That was the most important thing here. The mage lets out a sigh as he loosens the obvious tension in his shoulders. It's been some time since he's seen his companion.]

Well, I guess there's some truth to that.

[But what now? He looks around, unsure of who else to really speak with or why he's exactly here. It sort of just happened randomly was the best way to describe it.]

[ It's not the subtlest shift, as Anders' attention turns rather abruptly to the rest of the room, and his answer seems almost distracted as he looks around. Or almost convincingly distracted. ]

Busy, as always. [ And even if it is Hawke he's talking to, they're still in far too public a place for him to want to elaborate on that. ] You know how it is. I'm sure Hightown's most notable noble has parties like this to attend every night.

When the Kingdom collapsed in on itself from the glut and overindulgence of its rulers- [or more like when Zaheer finally put the Earth Queen in the grave, but who're we kidding, Kuvira's not above a little exaggeration and self-promotion] -I was left to pick up the pieces. Mine is a curious time, Councilman. One that calls for - unusual measures. I'm sure you understand.

...Oh, right, I remember hearing something about the... time-space continuum before I walked in here. I guess that means I'm in for some interesting times coming up.

[muffled dramatic irony playing in the distance]

...But now I feel even ruder, so you'll really have to excuse me. I wasn't exactly planning for an audience with an Empress today.

Well, you'd probably have to wear several more pounds of jewelry and ornate clothing to pull that off, I think. I've never met the Earth Queen in person, but I've heard a thing or two... well. Maybe it works for someone.

Perhaps. But I find such ostentatious displays weaken the mind and body.

Well, I don't think there's any harm in treating yourself to a little something extra every so often... but there's a difference between giving a new cologne a try or checking out the latest fashion and, well, overindulgence.

[he smells like a lady, he has to be at least a little bit of a fop.]

I mean, I'm sure no one would take me seriously if I decked myself out in literally every expensive fashion item possible, would they?

And given the current political climate in the city - I think you would all but be dragged out of the council chambers and onto the street if you were to do so.

[A raised eyebrow, as though if to say, am I wrong?]

I'm certain that the equivalent of that would happen in the media, at the very least. The city's got enough problems without yet another Council member who refuses to do anything... although, I guess I can at least somewhat respect that Tenzin's just overly cautious rather than abusing his position.
